CEO Leadership Transition
Effective July 20, CEO Katie Maslechko is no longer with the organization. T’Brenn Kelly-McKinnon has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, we recognize and thank Katie for her contribution as the Rental Protection Fund’s inaugural CEO.
Since the organization was established in 2023, the Rental Protection Fund has helped protect nearly 2,200 affordable rental homes across British Columbia at a fraction of the cost of building new affordable housing. These homes provide housing stability for more than 4,000 renters in communities across the province, from Fort St. John and Campbell River to Vancouver.
Over the past three years, the Fund has worked alongside non-profit housing providers, co-operatives, Indigenous housing providers, sector partners, and communities across the province to help protect affordable homes and prevent displacement in a challenging housing environment. That work remains ongoing and essential.
The Board and staff of the Rental Protection Fund remain committed to supporting the growth of the community housing sector, protecting long-term affordability, and helping renters remain in the communities they call home. The Fund’s work will continue without interruption as we support affordable housing providers and the residents they serve.
Protecting the affordability that exists today remains a critical part of addressing the housing crisis and ensuring rental housing remains stable, secure, and protected for future generations.
